I'll try in 2016

I am very excited to be apart of Frenzied SLPs January Linky In 2016 I'll try...

I don't make New Year's Resolutions.  I have always felt like my New Year's Eve was the night before the school year started.  For me time is always marked in school years and not calendar years.  I have been in school for over 50 years.  Every year in August I decide what I am going to do differently.  I can't wait to try new things. Top on my list is always be more organized. I can almost feel the success, but by the time New Year's Eve rolls around I have long since given up on what I was going to change.  Obviously this is really no different than making a New Year's Eve resolution only I make it on Labor Day.  Number 1 on my list year after year is organize my office, desk and materials.  This year was no different.  I wanted to be more organized. As I look around me I still have Halloween materials out that are mixed in with my Christmas activities. I am going to try and have a plan to get myself organized.  I think I always start out with a goal that is too big.  Rather than try to organize everything at one time I am going to start with all of my Christmas materials.  I brought them all home over vacation with the plan to organize them.  I am going to put everything in a crate based on seasons and holidays after I have used them. I see these on Pinterest all the time, so I bought a clear crate with a red lid.
I just finished organizing my December activities and it is a great feeling to have one month done.  In the December crate I put all my Christmas books, tpt activities, left over craft  materials, stickers, classroom decorations, tablecloth and holiday specific toys.  My Christmas crate is done.

The plan is to have it all organized next year at this time. I am going to try and do this at the end of each unit and holiday I complete. I guess all I can say is "I will try."

  4. I went back and put my Halloween materials, that were still out, in another crate. Now I just have to keep it up the rest of the year.

  5. You are so speaking my language! Right now I still have my box of Thanksgiving materials sitting next to my box of Christmas materials and I need to get out my box of Winter materials! No joke-I tell my students it must be elves stacking up those papers on my therapy table! I you get your boxes completed and organized. I use clear containers like yours and they do help--when I put them up after using them. I hope you have a great 2016! Amy :)

  6. I use bins, too. I bring one seasonal or holiday bin home and the next one into school and yes, my year is marked by the passing of bins! happy New Year!
